Deceuninck recycles end-of-life windows and closes the loop

Deceuninck opens its new recycling factory in Diksmuide (Belgium), adjacent to the existing 105,000 ton/year PVC compounding facility. The € 3 million investment includes recycling equipment for both postindustrial and postconsumer rigid PVC. The 20,000 tonnes capacity makes Deceuninck recycling in Diksmuide into the largest of its kind for rigid PVC recycling in the Benelux.
Deceuninck closes the loop by using all recycled material in new window systems and building products, and continues to design 100% recyclable products.

Deceuninck acquires the PVC recycling equipment from Verpola nv to become the number 1 uPVC recycling company in the Benelux.

Combined with the existing recycling capacity at its PVC extrusion site in Gits (B), Deceuninck increases its annual recycling capacity to 20,000 tonnes. The complete line will be integrated into the infrastructure of its existing raw material production unit in Diksmuide (B).

Despite a prejudice in the region for using aluminium profiles in a curtain wall construction, Deceuninck was able to convince a major Indonesian investor of the long-term benefits of PVC. The very satisfied customer, proprietor of the 140,000-m2 Living World lifestyle centre, plans to implement the Deceuninck system in future projects.

The Building-Product Technology 2010 Competition organised by the Czech Architecture and Building Foundation is in its third year. The goal of the competition is to contribute to improved architectural technology and applications by disseminating knowledge of superior products and technologies, and by promoting innovation and invention. This year the silver medal went to Deceuninck for its ultra energy-efficient Inoutic Eforte six-chamber window profile for low energy and passive buildings.
