Ambition

40% of the fossil fuels in Europe are used for heating buildings (which represents 36% of energy-related greenhouse gas emissions). Our mission is to develop solutions that reduce the heating and cooling losses and thus reduce a building’s energy intensity. We make sure our developed solutions are sustainably produced and highly recyclable to make our environmental impact as low as possible.

Circularity

Increasing shortage of raw materials and climate change are the drivers of our circular economy commitment. Recycling PVC, designing 100% recyclable products and investing in the collection of end-of-life products will help us reduce CO2 emissions and will increase our independence from virgin raw materials.

Our commitment to close the loop is clear – for example, by the investments we’ve made in developing the Elegant product range which contains high levels – between 15% and 30% – of recycled components. On average, 14% of our products contain recycled PVC.

We’ve also invested in a state-of-the-art recycling plant in Diksmuide, Belgium – making us one of the largest u-PVC recyclers in Western-Europe – and we continue to ensure that our PVC products are designed to be 100% recyclable. PVC is a valuable material that can be recycled up to 8 times without losing its mechanical characteristics. As it is installed for around 35 years, it has a potential lifecycle of nearly 300 years.

Carbon footprint

To reduce our carbon footprint, we are committed to the ambitious Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This global collaboration enables businesses to set targets in line with the level of decarbonisation needed to reach the goals of the UN Paris climate agreement. By 2030, we will have cut 60% of our direct CO2 emissions (Scope 1,2). We aim to reduce 48% of the CO2 emissions, versus produced tonnes, linked to our supply chain.

Product Insulation Performance

PVC provides superior insulation performance and is the most economical solution for insulation. The use of new PVC windows at least halves energy consumption (assuming that a 30-year-old window is replaced so that the house complies with passive house standards). We’ve also refined our insulating aluminium range, aiming to become a one-stop-shop for both PVC and aluminium insulation solutions.
