The newspapers seem to be
full of accounting scams, inhuman working conditions, exploitation of
employees and so on and so forth. Happily we are becoming aware of the
problem. Ethics is an issue. In other words, companies are being
monitored to ensure they do the right thing. Various stakeholders -
shareholders, investors, customers and employees - all want peace of
mind that the company is conducting policies with regard to people,
quality, growth, safety and planet. These five policy areas cover the
full domain of a business's social responsibility.
Socially responsible enterprise is not a fleet of fancy. It is
something that we are confronted with day in day out, often without us
actually realizing it. Much of the conduct in the code is already
found at our company. It is now a question of continuing the progress
we have made. We are far from perfect, but we have the will to work
together to bear our social responsibilities. So, as part of socially
responsible enterprise we have worked out a code of conduct for all
members of the Deceuninck Group.
